The idea was to stopover at Pai, a tiny northern village. Trying to start with couchsurfing (good travelling concept) we got an invitation to visit an ongoing project to develop an organic farm in the mountains of northern Thailand.
“Set up in a narrow valley of unbelievable beauty. Our base camp is a big teak built structure and several other smaller bamboo structures around, no any other neighboring sturcture can be seen in this valley of the beautiful green Nam Khong river surrounded by vegetation.”
Peter, the yogui, is running the project. With lot of knowledge in biodynamics, yoga, homemade organic drinks and an interesting global perspective, he is trying to bring back alive the place in a sustainable way.
“The Nam Khong Wilderness Project intends to train the local hill tribes chemical free sustainable and biodynamic agricultural techniques and work toward restoring, building and maintaining healthy top soil in the forest and farmland.”
What a lovely chinese tea, coffee, fruit wine and chinese herbal schnapps Peter prepared!.
Visiting this kind of places is the most valuable things of the trip. Help, learn and share for a down to earth and healthy project are aims of the travel. First chance to do it felt great!. It will be necessary to do something similar back home.

Some coffee plants
Fancy dinners in a fancy kitchen
Argentina – Mexico got us isolated, anyway there’s always a way of watching the albiceleste!
The views around the place are not negligible either; villages, hot springs, water falls and caves are common currency.
Healing mud hot spring
Riverside hot spring, where we left a small pool prepeared for next visitor
